House Rules

A warm welcome to our hotel!

To ensure that we can offer you and all our other guests a pleasant, safe and relaxing stay, it is essential that we all treat one another with consideration. These house rules form a binding part of our General Terms and Conditions (GTC) and the accommodation contract. By making your booking and checking in, you agree to these rules.

1. Arrival and Registration

In accordance with the provisions of the Federal Registration Act, from January 2025, guests of German nationality will be exempt from the statutory obligation to register. Guests of foreign nationality remain legally obliged to sign a registration form by hand on the day of arrival and to present a valid identity document (passport or identity card).

2. Visitor’s tax

As Freyburg (Unstrut) is a state-recognised holiday resort, we are obliged to collect a tourist tax on behalf of the town. The amount of the tax depends on the season and is 2.00 euros per person per night for adults (aged 17 and over) in the high season and 1.50 euros in the low season.

Guests with a valid pilgrim’s pass are entitled to a reduced rate of 1.00 euro per night. Children up to the age of 16, as well as people with severe disabilities (with a reduction in earning capacity of at least 50 per cent) and their permanent carer as listed on their ID card, are fully exempt from paying the visitor’s tax. Exemptions also apply to stays undertaken for vocational training purposes, provided that appropriate proof is provided.

The visitor’s tax is not included in the standard room rate and will be charged separately on site at check-in or check-out. Upon payment, you will receive the visitor’s and guest card from us, which entitles you to numerous discounts and free offers in Freyburg and throughout the Saale-Unstrut region.

3. Arrival and departure (check-in and check-out)

Your room will be available to you on the day of arrival from 4.00 pm. We ask that you vacate the room by 10.00 am at the latest on the day of departure. In the event of a late departure, we reserve the right to charge for use beyond the terms of the contract.

The room keys or key cards handed over on arrival remain the property of the hotel and must be returned to reception on the day of departure without being asked. In the event of the loss of a key or key card, please inform the hotel staff immediately to avoid any security risks. The guest shall be liable for any costs demonstrably incurred as a result of the loss. This includes the cost of producing a replacement key and – insofar as, for objective security reasons, it becomes necessary to replace the lock cylinder or parts of the locking system and this is actually carried out by the hotel – the expenses incurred in doing so.

4. Quiet hours and mutual consideration

Mutual consideration is of the utmost importance in our hotel to ensure all guests enjoy a restful stay. Quiet hours are from 11.00 pm to 7.00 am. During this time, guests must keep noise levels to a reasonable level in all rooms, public areas and outdoor areas.

Please note, however, that there may occasionally be deviations from the regular quiet hours during selected in-house events (such as weddings or special celebrations). In these exceptional cases, we always endeavour to reduce any disturbances and noise pollution to an absolute minimum for all guests not involved. We ask for your understanding in these special circumstances.

5. Room cleaning

For the sake of the environment and to conserve valuable resources, we clean your room every two days as standard. Should you prefer daily cleaning instead, we will of course be happy to accommodate this request. In this case, please simply let our team at reception know.

6. Alcohol consumption and behaviour

We want you to enjoy your stay in a pleasant atmosphere. Moderate consumption of alcoholic drinks is permitted. However, we ask that you consume alcohol responsibly. Excessive alcohol consumption that leads to harassment of other guests, noise or disturbance of the peace is prohibited. Guests who are heavily intoxicated and endanger others or disrupt operations may be asked to leave the premises. Bringing onto the premises and consuming illegal drugs is strictly prohibited throughout the property and will result in an immediate ban from the premises.

In the event of soiling caused by vomiting or the spillage of other liquids, we will charge a flat fee of 150 euros for the extensive special cleaning required. The guest expressly reserves the right to prove that the hotel has suffered no damage at all or only significantly less damage.

7. Fire Safety and Security

Your safety is our top priority. Please therefore observe the strict fire safety regulations.

Smoking is strictly prohibited in all hotel rooms, indoor public areas, corridors and stairwells. This ban expressly includes the use of e-cigarettes (vaporisers) as well as the smoking, heating and vapourising of cannabis products. Smoking is permitted exclusively in the designated and signposted outdoor areas. Please ensure that doors and windows remain closed whilst smoking to prevent smoke from entering the building. In the event of a breach of the smoking ban in a room, we will charge a flat fee of 150 euros to cover the costs of the extensive special cleaning required. The guest expressly reserves the right to prove that the hotel has suffered no damage at all or only significantly less damage.

Should a fire alarm be triggered by unauthorised smoking, an open flame or wilful tampering with the smoke detectors, the person responsible shall be fully liable for the costs incurred by the fire service and security staff.

For fire safety reasons, lighting candles, bringing in hotplates, barbecues or microwaves, and any form of open flame are strictly prohibited in the rooms.

8. External visitors, cleanliness and bicycles

Persons who are not registered at the hotel are only permitted access to the hotel rooms after prior registration at reception. The unauthorised transfer of the room to third parties is expressly prohibited.

We ask that you help to keep the entire building clean. Please clean or change heavily soiled shoes in the entrance area.

For reasons of space and cleanliness, bicycles, e-bikes or other large sports equipment must not be taken into the rooms. Please use only the storage facilities provided by us for this purpose.

9. Charging e-bikes and e-scooters

Due to the extremely high risk of fire and explosion posed by high-power batteries, the charging of e-bikes, e-scooters and their batteries in hotel rooms, in the corridors and in any other areas on the hotel premises is strictly prohibited. Without exception, bicycles may only be charged and stored in our designated bicycle shed.

10. Internet use (Wi-Fi)

We provide free Wi-Fi. However, Wi-Fi is not a guaranteed part of the accommodation contract, and the hotel reserves the right to restrict or completely block access in the event of misuse.

Guests undertake to strictly comply with applicable laws whilst using the internet, in particular copyright law as well as data protection and youth protection regulations. Illegal file sharing and the unauthorised uploading or downloading of copyright-protected material are prohibited.

11. Pets and assistance dogs

Pets (particularly dogs) are not permitted.

State-recognised assistance dogs (e.g. guide dogs for the blind, epilepsy alert dogs) are expressly exempt from all restrictions (such as the ban on entry to dining areas), size limits and additional pet charges. They are always welcome in our hotel. However, the owner remains liable for any damage caused.

12. Lost property

Items left behind or forgotten will be held by the hotel for a period of 4 weeks. During this time, the hotel accepts no liability for accidental loss or damage, except in cases of gross negligence. Items will only be forwarded at the guest’s own expense and risk. Once the 4-week period has expired, the hotel is entitled to dispose of or destroy the items.

13. General Rules of Conduct

We attach the utmost importance to a friendly, welcoming and considerate atmosphere in our hotel. We therefore expect all our guests to behave respectfully and courteously – both towards other hotel guests and towards all our staff. Any form of discrimination, racist or sexist remarks, harassment, or verbal or physical violence will not be tolerated under any circumstances in our hotel. In the event of a breach of these principles, we expressly reserve the right to exercise our right to manage the premises, to impose an immediate ban on entry and to terminate the accommodation contract without notice.

14. Enforcement of the hotel’s rights and sanctions

Gross, repeated or deliberate breaches of these house rules entitle the hotel to terminate the accommodation contract with immediate effect (Section 543(1) of the German Civil Code (BGB)) and to impose an immediate ban on entering the premises. In such cases, the guest is obliged to vacate the room immediately;

there is no entitlement to a refund of any fees already paid. In the event of damage to property or unauthorised smoking, the guest shall be liable for the full cost of the damage, including compensation for loss of use for the days during which the room cannot be let.

We thank you for your cooperation and wish you a pleasant stay!
